Blog Four: Reflection

During the past two weeks, ENG 102 has been a very interesting learning experience. I was surprised that we would be using computers and especially a blog site. In class, we've learned how to distinguish a poem by using methods. Methods range from detailing and uncovering tones and symbols used in a poem or song. The other methods or techniques used are motif, theme, and archetype. So far we've read two poems, Goblin Market and The Orchard Pit. Professor Smith has made ENG 102 a fun learning experience. I enjoy blogging my work and reading the critiques my classmates say about my work. Also given the chance for myself to critique on theirs. I believe that by given the chance to first blog our work and read critiques then hand in the assigned essay will help us as students, to fix our mistakes and build our writing skills, and also helps us achieve a reasonable grade. I was happy to learn that mostly all of our work will be blogged, I myself started blogging last year and have two blog sites, a photography & personal blog. Another thing I like that this class offers is being able to distinguish other works and categorizing them to archetypes. For example, in class we discussed the common archetypes in films and Professor Smith made a comment saying that "once you pin point archetypes in films, you then predict what the movie is about, and then you get tired of watching the same plots in films so you start watching foreign films". I agree, because I am a huge movie person and over the years I watch more documentaries and sundance films. I like that I can relate to discussions made in class.
